[Makie has had the facts of this place explained to her already, by a gentleman in a... fairly awkward situation.

It doesn't prepare her for the reality of a village with occupants like none she's ever seen before. Some of you aren't even human, Luceti. The hell. She wanders the path of the village from Community Building #1 down toward the plaza still in her New Feather dress, just like a gawking tourist, and spends some time staring at the fountain and plaza itself. Uh.

...right. Okay. Time to begin glancing through various shops in her attempts to find the places she was told her things would be. She finds her clothes with a measure of relief, and her shamisen at the item store-- and after she picks it up, she frowns. It's too light. She doesn't need to open it to know she's missing something.

Eventually, she'll find her way into the forge to pick up the last of her things, pays a visit to the Welcome Centre-- and then finally fetches up at the tea shop, which is the most familiar-looking thing here.

...sort of. Never really loses that dazed and confused look.]

I play music, train at martial arts with friends, cook, and generally try to help people where I can. Sometimes I just explore, and I read a lot. And I teach shamisen to some friends as well.

What do you do, in your spare time?

Maybe we just lived near each other all this time and never realised. Wouldn't that be weird..?

Yeah, most of it is second nature, but we still get hit with curve balls every now and then.

No magic that I know of. We have many legends, of course-- I've heard of dragons before, but nobody has ever seen one.

Up until recently, I didn't really have much. I was very busy... working.

[ Tenten takes a breath out after that outburst. ] At least they're trained in defense, some places don't even grant that luxury. [ She'd apologize for this but she's actually quite fired up. ]

[Makie isn't sure whether she should be shocked or... wistful that such a place exists. It's nice to see a woman like Tenten, that's for sure.]

Women have strength in their own ways. [...] At home. [She doesn't mean to imply they shouldn't be able to fight.] My father let me learn swordplay as a child, but the heir to the dojo is the eldest son. I had other duties expected of me.

[She won't speak poorly of them. How she feels about it, on the other hand, is much more complicated.]

Yeah, but sometimes things we weren't carrying will show up too. So you never really know what you'll find in this place sometimes.

Nope, sorry. I'm from a village called Mizuho. There're a few other people here from a place called Japan, though - it just might not be the same one as yours. I know that doesn't make any sense. [Sheena shakes her head.] Lemme get your tea first.

[Emil returns several minutes later bearing a tray with a small pot of green tea, a cup, and a plate with her requested rice crackers, which he sets down on the table in front of her and then takes the teapot to pour her some of the tea.]

So are you new here? I don't think I've seen you around town before.

[Er. She isn't sure whether to follow him or not... Makie hardly wants to pick up her weapon if an unknown man is with her. (Particularly one she suspects of hitting on her.) But in the end, it's pretty rude to just let him go off when he's trying to help, so after a moment of indecision she catches up to him just as he leaves the store.]

[But really, she was tossing up whether to tell Saori the truth about her shamisen. Some things are too much on the first meeting. Maybe another time. She makes a silent apology.]

No. They're not particularly friendly. But it's more than that - we're just a means to an end to them. They just honestly don't care about us. They care about their war and their experiments. We're a means to an end.
