[It's not so much that Makie has a clean bill of health-- she needs to keep taking this medication for another four months or so, by the clinic's reports. But she hasn't had a coughing fit in weeks and feels pretty healthy, all things considered-- just a little drained, that's all. And now, she's passed the bar of her illness. She's no longer contagious.

Which means she can stop holing herself up in her room and start going forward with plans to actually, you know...

...live a little.

What a concept.

She still doesn't go out until the afternoon though, tracking down Saori (and other house members if they're around) to inform them of a decision she's made during her convalescence. And then likely packing what very few things she has, and putting haru-no-okina through some well-needed maintenance out on the sunny rooftop. But in the afternoon she goes to several places, shamisen in hand:

Seventh Heaven, to ask after her old job;

The tea house, because it's been a while;

The forge, to request a weapon;

The Welcome Centre, to find out what apartments are still free;

And finally, back to the battledome to investigate it more thoroughly. (She keeps an eye out for Konan on her travels, mindful of an offer made a long while ago. Just in case.) Once she knows sufficiently enough (or someone programs it for her), she steps into one of its rooms for the first time, shamisen neatly tucked to the side out of harm's way, and experiences it for herself. (The program name of the day: Shift Hunters. How fitting, that they're like giant wild dogs.)

...probably stays in there a little too long, though, since her stamina is kind of shredded right now.

I was only on one draft...it took place on an island floating in the sky. Another draft I heard of but wasn't drafted for was in an enclosure much like Luceti, named Vaskoth. Other drafts happened before I arrived here.

[She's less informed on those, but it seems that they happen about once every six months. Of course, other things can happen in between them, too.]

[...o..kay, then. She was expecting terrain that at least made sense. How can an island float in the sky?]

So I suppose the drafts really could account for any type of terrain. [Well, trying out all the options might be a challenge, at least.] Then I think starting with something reasonably simple to begin with might be best.

Would you prefer something more open, like a field, or somewhere where opponents can hide, like the forest?

[Those are fairly simple, and yet there are so many possibilities in even those simple combat scenarios.]

Forest. [There's basic, and then there's no challenge. And given Luceti is surrounded by forest...] I'll work my way up from there.

[Konan puts in the instructions slowly from the side so that Makie can follow along and see how it has to be entered into the Battle Dome.]

What sort of enemies? Those who fight with weapons, or would you prefer those who rely on hand to hand?

Weapons. [Hmm.] Do they have cultists as an option?

[She'd assume so.]

[Which is an excellent choice for practicing against, since they're the most direct threat anyone in Luceti will have to fight, typically.

Konan demonstrates how to program in the cultists.]

How many would you like to fight?

I'm not sure. [This is fascinating to watch, and she's beginning to realise how much variety there is.] Have you ever fought them before? I'm...not sure how skilled they are.

They're more powerful than skilled, for the most part. Their abilities are superhuman. I fought them briefly on the draft, though I focused primarily on protecting the healers and otherwise keeping out of sight to observe.

[It was best not to be seen as a threat and to take the enemy out without them realizing who or what was killing them, if possible.]

[Turning that over in her head. She had little difficulty during the invasion...]

[Konan programs in three cultists for Makie and several more to target herself. For her own objective, she's going to see how long she can rely on hand to hand combat and using ordinary shuriken rather than her chakra enhanced paper shuriken to fight. Hand to hand is a weaker point of hers and she needs to work on it. She has been working on it, but there's no denying that her strength is in ranged fighting.]

[She knows they've had this conversation, but she just wants to make sure she understood correctly.]

That's correct. They will look and even feel real, but they are simulations.

[Konan had to give credit where credit was due - the Battle Dome was an impressive piece of technology.]

[If that's the case, it really is just what she's after.]

[Konan nods and programs in a few other forest details, including birds and squirrels that will respond when someone – be it she and Makie or the cultists – gets close. A few more details like that are added before she deems the training scenario suitably realistic to train in. It needs to be as close to reality as possible.]

[She clicks open the top of her shamisen, pulling the three-section pike from within.]

[Konan has her projectile weapons ready, but she wants to hold out and rely on hand to hand and stealth as much as she can. She doesn't want to be vulnerable if she's ever unable to use her chakra for some reason. She is good at keeping opponents from getting too close, but sometimes things don't go according to plan. It's best to be well prepared.

She glances over at Makie's weapon. It's a good way to disguise the nature of her weapon. The artificial forest materializes around them as the training scenario loads up.]
