[Makie has had the facts of this place explained to her already, by a gentleman in a... fairly awkward situation.

It doesn't prepare her for the reality of a village with occupants like none she's ever seen before. Some of you aren't even human, Luceti. The hell. She wanders the path of the village from Community Building #1 down toward the plaza still in her New Feather dress, just like a gawking tourist, and spends some time staring at the fountain and plaza itself. Uh.

...right. Okay. Time to begin glancing through various shops in her attempts to find the places she was told her things would be. She finds her clothes with a measure of relief, and her shamisen at the item store-- and after she picks it up, she frowns. It's too light. She doesn't need to open it to know she's missing something.

Eventually, she'll find her way into the forge to pick up the last of her things, pays a visit to the Welcome Centre-- and then finally fetches up at the tea shop, which is the most familiar-looking thing here.

...sort of. Never really loses that dazed and confused look.]

...just arrived. [Still shellshocked, yup.] I was told I might find information or a place to stay here.

[Aang quickly gets out of his chair to be more friendly and - oh, she bowed! He gives a bit of a bow back.]

Well you came to the right place! My name's Aang. I can help you with that and any other questions you've got.

[The bow is a bit relieving, to be honest. Her smile is a little more genuine, and she shifts, her posture relaxing slightly, arms folded over her shamisen.] A gentleman already showed me the guide to this place, and I've found my belongings. But I have no place to stay, and I'm not sure how to go about finding one.

I see. Well... That shouldn't be too hard! I can check the housing lists and see if there's anything empty for you. Just one second! [And he starts rifling through the boring papers at the desk.]

[And Makie waits.

For a few seconds. Before she blinks.] Oh...

Forgive my rudeness, sir. My name is Makie Otono-Tachibana. [Introductions should be matched. She's really not on the ball.]

[He pops his head up from the desk, scattering some loose sheets in his wake, one on his bald head.]

Please, it's not problem. That's a very nice name. It's nice to meet you, Makie!

...thank you. It's kind of you to say. [But she smiles again all the same. You're really kind of a sweet guy. Unusual, as far as she's concerned, but it encourages her to ask further questions.] Have you... been in this town long?

Uh... Y-yeah. [He says with a slight frown, some reluctance. He knows it's hard for newcomers to face - the idea of how long they could be stuck here.] I have.

[And Makie mistakes his reluctance.] I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry. Today is just... very strange, I suppose.

No, it's okay! Really. I just... didn't want to worry you. [He peels a paper off of his head.] I understand this all must be really strange for you.

[...heh. Makie puts her fingers to the edge of the desk to arrest the slide of another piece of paper, shaking her head.] It's very strange. The people, too, aren't like any I've met before. But if we all go home eventually, then...I don't... mind.

[And then he shuffles through the housing papers, giving a meek smile and a nod.]

I believe we will, one day. Until then... we just have to wait and have a positive attitude! And if it's any comfort, as strange as some of these people can be, most of them are really friendly.

People do seem friendly. [Which is also disconcerting in its own way. But it's kind of nice.] Tell me... what do people do here while they wait?

Well... anything they want to, really. People tend to go and make friends, do lots of social activities, find places to work at to pass the time, train, do laundry, meet animals, read, go exploring, find people to fall in love with or just have fun!

[...that's a long list. She's not sure what to think of it. Uh.

...first...things first...?]

I suppose I first ought to find a place to stay. Then... whatever comes after. What sort of work is there?

All kinds! You can probably pick whatever you want to do. Right now, I work here at the Welcome Center and at the bakery too. There's also an item shop, some clothes shops, a grocery store, restaurants, a clinic, a library, a farm and a tea shop... all kinds of places!

[And he pulls out an up-to-dateish version of the housing list to begin checking for vacant places.]

A tea shop? [She straightens, interested.] I'm familiar with tea shops. Could you give me directions?

Sure! [He points towards wherever the stairs are with a smile.] You just have to go upstairs!

[...oh well okay that was convenient. :|]

I've heard that nothing in this town has a price. Is that so?

[savedtheworld]

That's very so! This place doesn't have money at all. It's really great!

Any kind of trade at all? A required payment of any kind?

[savedtheworld]

It depends. Most people will do things for free - especially if you're nice to them. But some people... [His eyes trail off a bit, remembering Sokka. What he's heard about his recent activity.] Some people do ask for trades for their services.

[Hearing that makes her feel better. Makie would rather not just take from people without an even trade.

...although she has nothing to offer the tea shop, except her services or her singing. Perhaps she'll ask what is needed when she's up there. That's if some military jerk doesn't take it out of her hands]

I shall have to find something to do to occupy my time.

[Upstairs, he adjusts his glasses while wondering why his ears are burning.]

I can play. And sing. But that... is probably not as useful as other things I could contribute.
