[Makie has had the facts of this place explained to her already, by a gentleman in a... fairly awkward situation.

It doesn't prepare her for the reality of a village with occupants like none she's ever seen before. Some of you aren't even human, Luceti. The hell. She wanders the path of the village from Community Building #1 down toward the plaza still in her New Feather dress, just like a gawking tourist, and spends some time staring at the fountain and plaza itself. Uh.

...right. Okay. Time to begin glancing through various shops in her attempts to find the places she was told her things would be. She finds her clothes with a measure of relief, and her shamisen at the item store-- and after she picks it up, she frowns. It's too light. She doesn't need to open it to know she's missing something.

Eventually, she'll find her way into the forge to pick up the last of her things, pays a visit to the Welcome Centre-- and then finally fetches up at the tea shop, which is the most familiar-looking thing here.

...sort of. Never really loses that dazed and confused look.]

[Makie shakes herself free of the fountain's spell when she hears him speak, glancing over with a bemused look. What...?]

...ah. Yes. You're right. [She smooths down the dress selfconsciously.] I'd just never seen... this before.

[Or, you know. Anything here.]

What? The fountain? Really? Huh, even we had fountains back home.

You from a desert town?

No. But not recognising something... I don't recognise much here at all. The architecture is strange. Are fountains common, then?

[It's pretty.]

Well, I wouldn't exactly say they were very common where I'm from. [Depends on how well the city's Plant was doing.] But I kinda... thought they were? But I guess you learn something new everyday, don't you?

Mm.

[It's a distracted non-response, really. But after a moment, Makie reminds herself the man has a point. She glances across the plaza at the different shop fronts.]

If I had a musical instrument, which store would I look in?

[goldenglasses]

A musical instrument? Well, that would be the item shop there. [He moves his arms to point the store out.] But- aren't you cold? The clothing shop is just there. [Then his finger moves slightly to point out the clothing shop.] I mean, I know it's getting to be spring and warmer, but that dress is more of a summer look.

[But he's also ready to admit that maybe he hasn't been out of the desert long enough for spring to feel rather cold to him.]

No, no. [She shakes her head, folding her arms across her middle.] I'll get my kimono first. But I already knew where that would be. [The shamisen is something precious. What's inside it... well.]

Thank you for your help, sir. [And she starts crossing the plaza to the clothing store.]

[Crap. The pretty lady is leaving. Must fix this! Vash pushes himself off the bench. Trailing behind Makie just a few feet and matching his pace so he doesn't exactly catch up.]

So! You must be new here! But you already know where to find your things! So has someone explained this place to you?

[And amidst all the weirdness, here's a behaviour pattern that Makie is more than familiar with. Oy. She glances over her shoulder with a cautious smile.]

They have, yes. I woke up in the apartment of a gentleman who was kind enough to explain. [Just how she woke up is between her and Alexei, okay >_>]

Gentlemanly? What kind of gentlemen wouldn't walk you to the stores! Sounds down right rude to me!

[Of course, Makie might have asked for some time alone. Vash decides to ignore that very good point.]

[From what she could see, actually, Alexei was recovering from injury. :| It's polite not to drag the poor man all over town. But at Vash's words, she only smiles.]

If you'd care to walk me to the stores, sir, they are only a few steps away.

Yeah!? Of course I will! I'll be more than happy to walk you there! Honest I will! Scouts honor! Well, if I was a scout it would be a scout's honor!

[Excuse him a moment. You're getting awfully close to the door. Let him just rush ahead in a blur of motion to open it for you.] There you are ah- [Crap. Didn't get her name!] -my lost flower!

[Fast. She'll remember that.]

Makie Otono-Tachibana. [Quietly, as she steps through the open door.] Thank you.

...could I just call you Makie by chance?

[Her lips twitch up a little.] You may. What do I call you, sir?

My name is Vash! But you can call me slave, or fido, or underling, or anything you may want to!

It's really not necessary, Mr Vash. [Not to mention kind of disturbing. What kind of man wants to go through a womens' clothing store looking for her clothing?

...you know what, don't answer that. As it is, when she walks in, she can pick the distinctive dark colours of her kimono already on a rack on the opposite wall. But how to deflect this possibly kind, possibly creepy man--]

...if you really must, I cannot see my geta. If you would be so kind as to look for them while I change, I would be most appreciative.

[Well, she managed half a step toward her kimono. Oh. Dear.]

They're shoes. [How to describe.] Sandals. Open toe, with a thong that runs between the toes. [She makes an upside V motion with her finger.]

[goldenglasses]

Shoes! Right! Of course they are! Don't worry! Vash is on the case and they will soon be found! [And he turns his direction back to where the shoes are kept. Talking to himself under his breath as he looks through them.]

Open toe sandals. Thong between the toes - those! Nope. Those aren't them.

[The obi is folded across the bar just underneath the folds of her kimono, and Makie spares a thought of gratitude that at least her clothing was treated with respect. The shawl is here, too. Her travel bindings are gone, but then again... they're not exactly necessary now. She can make new ones if need be.

Makie folds her clothes over one arm and glances back to Vash, then uncertainly around the room.

...there. A small room with a door that looks empty. She can get changed in privacy. The door closes after her with a soft click.
